‍Carroll Ann Susco has been writing and publishing fiction and nonfiction for more than 40 years. She has a chapbook, Bean Spiller, about mental illness, available on the platform https://books2read.com/u/bOdvkE, which includes Amazon Kindle. Bean Spiller won honorable mention in the Sonder Press Chapbook Competition and was recommended by Small Press Distribution. In her chapbook, Susco writes to both the mentally ill and those who know nothing about it—to illuminate, heal, and come to terms. Through her insight and honesty, she helps remove the stigma of being neurodivergent in an already difficult world to live in.

‍Susco has roughly 60 publications, including in Painted Bride Quarterly, three in The Sun Magazine and several in Asylum Magazine. She has also published in The Blood Pudding, Gulf Coast and Anodyne, among others. Her story, “Sinking,” about a mother and daughter struggling with their relationship, was made into a film that won best narrative at the Ohio Film Festival.

‍Susco earned an M.F.A. in fiction from the University of Pittsburgh, studying under Catherine Gammon, Chuck Kinder and Lewis Nordan. She earned a B.A. in creative writing from George Mason University, studying under Richard Bausch and Susan Richards Shreve. She lives and writes in Alexandria, Virginia.
